Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
